Miguel Lama, hopes that the heads of state will speak out on issues relevant to the region and the continent.
Santiago de los Caballeros. -December 8th, 2022- Considering it as the “Santiago Summit 2022″, Miguel Lama, assures that the 56th Meeting of Heads of State and Government of the member countries of the Central American Integration System (SICA), is the ideal scenario to address relevant issues for the region and matters of global importance.
¨It is important for countries to align approaches and take concrete actions on governance and rotation of power; the strengthening of democracy, migration, insecurity, trade and the fight against corruption and impunity in the nations of the Americas,” the businessman stated.
The following are already in Santiago to attend the meeting that opens this afternoon at the Gran Teatro del Cibao: Werner Vargas Torres, Secretary General of SICA; Felix Ulloa Jr., Vice President of El Salvador; Juan Antonio (Jhonny) Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize; and Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, Eamon Courtenay, Mario Búcaro, Foreign Ministers of Panama, Belize and Guatemala, respectively.
Lama, who chairs the Santiago Free Trade Zone Corporation (CZFS) and the Center for Innovation and Professional Training (CAPEX), said that in addition to political and social conflicts, the nations of Central America must speak out and act on violence, inequality, poverty, the environment and transparency; issues that for years have generated social, commercial and human rights crises in the region.
In welcoming the visitors to the city of Santiago, Miguel Lama extended an affectionate greeting to the presidential delegations visiting the Cibao capital, a city that he defines as “the center of high productivity and that shows success in the planning of projects and initiatives of a public-private nature”.
¨This is an opportunity to address issues of regional and global importance. We hope that, in their working sessions, the heads of state will address important issues of continental relevance¨, the businessman said.
