Santiago Free Trade Zone Corporation presents the eleventh edition of its “‘Porque Te Quiero’ (Because I Care)†campaign.

Focused on preventing breast cancer, this initiative makes it easier to get specialized tests done at the park.

Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. Tuesday, September 22, 2025 – The Santiago Free Trade Zone Corporation (CZFS, per its acronym in Spanish) launched the eleventh edition of its flagship campaign, “Porque Te Quiero†(Because I Care), during the discussion forum “Cuidarnos También es Hablarlo†(Taking Care of Ourselves Also Means Talking About It), which featured emotional coach Santiago Morel and two women who have bravely faced breast cancer: Gendy Muñoz and Joselyn Sánchez, who shared their life stories with emotion and courage.

According to their testimonies, Muñoz and Sánchez cited the importance of having a family and community support network; the need for financial support in the face of costly treatments; and how valuable faith is in the process. Santiago Morel recommended embracing today as a gift, working out, and slowing down the pace.

The campaign reaffirms the commitment to the health and well-being of women who are part of the Víctor Espaillat Mera Industrial Park (PIVEM) and its surroundings.

During her remarks, Dr. Mercedes Carmen Capellán, vice-president of MĒDICA, highlighted the impact this campaign has had over the years, stating that for eleven years, “Because I Care†has touched the lives of many, preventing disease and strengthening ties within the large human ecosystem that the Victor Espaillat Mera Industrial Park (PIVEM) represents.

“One of the greatest achievements has been to care not only for the health of our female employees, but also for that of their families, because when a woman takes care of herself, she is protecting her children, her partners, and her communities,†Dr. Capellán said.

This year, the campaign will run for a full month within the park, followed by an additional fifteen days for the management of medical studies aimed at the outside community, thereby expanding its reach.

One of the highlights of this edition is the availability, at MÄ’DICA, of Breast MRI scans, the most advanced equipment in the entire northern region for specialized examinations, which consolidates the commitment to providing more accurate and timely diagnoses.

New developments for 2025

María Fernanda Olivo, Human Resources Manager at CZFS, reported that this year they are including a service survey for staff benefiting from medical studies to analyze the participation rate and incorporate possible improvements. Furthermore, the participation of new women among contractors and suppliers of the Corporation has been expanded.

The “Because I Care†campaign has established itself as a Corporate Social Responsibility model with real impact, transforming the way disease prevention is approached in the workplace and community. It is a firm commitment to health, medical education, cutting-edge technology, and, above all, the value of every woman.

During the 10 years of the campaign, more than 18,500 medical examinations have been carried out and 713 suspected cases of category 4 and 5 breast cancer have been detected, enabling early intervention and timely support for women diagnosed with the disease.
