Santiago Free Trade Zone Corporation acknowledged as a pillar of the Dominican Republic’s economic success

Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. – The Santiago Free Trade Zone Corporation (CZFS) was selected as the “Best Industrial Free Zone in Latin America and the Caribbean 2024” and distinguished for its “Outstanding Contribution to the Economic Development of the Dominican Republic” by the international publication Capital Finance International (CFI) on its 50th anniversary of operations in the cibao capital.

CFI’s evaluation team based its two awards on the Corporation’s commitment to sustainability, highlighting its environmental initiatives, social responsibility, and ethical governance. In addition, CFI highlighted the incentive for tenant companies to adopt sustainable practices, use renewable energy sources, and their ongoing investment in green infrastructure projects and water conservation measures, which promotes a healthier environment for their employees and the surrounding community.

“Our winner fosters positive social impact through its commitment to the well-being of its employees, is dedicated to workplace safety with training programs and adheres to strict safety regulations,” the Capital Finance International (CFI) judging panel’s award remarked.

The decision also noted the Corporation’s significant contributions to the economy by creating jobs, attracting foreign investment, and boosting exports. The great economic contribution of the companies in the park operated by the Corporation and the efficient logistics infrastructure of the free trade zone were also considered in the awards.

Miguel Lama, Chairman of CZFS Board of Directors expressed his appreciation for the international distinctions that consolidate the organization’s leadership in sustainable industrial development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

On celebrating its first 50 years of operation, Mr. Lama explained that the entity is working to turn Santiago into the business mecca and investment center of the Americas.
